On October 1st 2007, Ftn was replaced by the new entertainment channel Virgin 1. This decision was made by Virgin Media Television (VMtv) who give the following explanation for the change:
Statement from Virgin Media Television about Virgin 1 and Ftn:
"We decided a while ago that we wanted to strengthen the service we offer to Freeview viewers. Ftn has been around for a few years, but we wanted to do something even bigger and brighter. We're putting more money into Virgin 1 so that we can do more original programming, and we think the line-up is stronger as a result. It's worth noting that many of the most popular Ftn programmes will also be appearing on Virgin 1 in future."
