The week ahead according to Freeview...
Saturday
Merlin is back for a brand new series of wizardry and wonder. Now in it’s 4th series, the fantasy drama begins at 7.50pm on BBC One and BBC One HD and stars Colin Morgan and Richard Wilson.
From 7pm on BBC2, Frost on Nixon looks back in history when the former President was interviewed by David Frost. The interviews went down in history and have since been made into a film, Frost/Nixon, which is on at 9.45pm on BBC2 and BBC HD.
Sunday
Aditya ‘Romeo’ Dev is the worlds smallest bodybuilder. With his tiny frame, Aditya lifts weights that people double his bodyweight couldn't. The documentary looks at his progression from India to the USA in Extraordinary People: the World’s Smallest Muscleman at 7pm on Channel 5.
We highlighted this last week, and it’s so good, we are highlighting it again. Dave have taken on the one and only Jo Brand to perform a series of water-based projects and then mixed it with her stand up. The results are hilarious and if you missed the first episode, you missed out. You can catch episode two of Jo Brand’s Big Splash at 8pm on Dave.
Gone are the days of falling off swings, jumping into puddles and playing with large sticks thanks to healthy and safety rules. The Fun Police is a Cutting Edge film about the people who are employed to protect the public and stop you and me from having a good time. And hurting ourselves. Booo.
Monday
Can You Trust Your Doctor? Well, can you?! Dispatches will be looking at the records of dodgy Doctors and naughty Nurses and shedding light on how a lack of punishment has allowed them to continue practicing. Tune in from 8pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD.
Alex Polizzi, The Hotel Inspector, is back for a brand new series. With her expertise, knowledge of the industry and matter of fact speaking, can she transform a hotel in Dorset from drab to fab? Watch The Hotel Inspector at 9pm on Channel 5 to find out.
Over on BBC2 at 10pm is a new series of Never Mind The Buzzcocks. The first episode sees David Hasselhoff take the gust judge seat and special guests come in the form of Louie Spence and Sugababe Amelle Berrabah.
Tuesday
Mary Portas, the QUEEN of the high street, returns in Mary Queen of Frocks at 9pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD. The flame haired, hot talking retail consultant hosts a new three part series in which she’ll launch her own clothes line for woman over 40.
Transplant on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10.35pm is a touching documentary about the process of donating and being donated organs. The fact that one death can save a life is rather fascinating and although donors are anonymous and not all around today, thanks to them the recipients are alive to tell their stories.
Mark Lawson talks to Rob Brydon at 10.30pm on BBC4. Star of The Trip and the erm, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes adverts, Rob will discuss his career and comedy highlights.
Wednesday
Get your tissues at the ready because The Pride of Britain Awards returns for another round, highlighting the brave and heroic from 8pm on ITV1 and ITV1 HD. From war heroes to village school boys, acts of bravery from all walks of life are celebrated in the show. The ceremony is hosted by Carol Vorderman and is attend by a long list of very famous faces.
All Roads Lead Home is a new three-part series at 8pm on BBC2 and BBC HD. Hosted by Sue Perkins, Alison Steadman and Stephen Mangan, the series will see the trio head around the UK without a compass, only relying on nature to guide them.
Remember Rab C Nesbitt? Well, he’s back and grubbier than ever in a new series from 10pm on BBC2. Still out of work and touching 60, the first episode of six see’s Mrs Nesbitt lose her job.
Over on BBC3 and BBC HD, the MOBO Awards will be played out live from Glasgow’s SECC. Performances are from Jessie J, Katy B and Boyz II Men and the show, celebrating urban music, is hosted by Jason Derulo and Alesha Dixon.
Thursday
There’s a new four-part thriller series from 9pm on BBC One and BBC One HD from 9pm starring Philip Glenister. Hidden focuses a corrupt solicitor whose past comes back to haunt him.
Mixed Race Britain is a three-part series from 9pm on BBC2 and BBC HD, looking at the early 1900s and how races in Britain started mixing. There are stories of secret affairs and the film will look back at the people who sadly could not see beyond colour and caused riots.
Friday
Rufus Hound presents highlights of the Digital Music Awards from 7pm on ITV2. Tune in for performances from Nicola Roberts and Ed Sheeran.
Autumnwatch is on BBC2 and BBC HD for a new eight-part series. There’s a new co-host in the form of Michaela Strachan and the team follow-up on what happened in Springwatch, earlier in the year.
Chris Addison takes us through his year of funny, which was 2001, the year of reality TV show, Popstars. Chris Addison: My Funniest Year is on at 11.10pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD.
There is also a wealth of films that if you watched them all, you would need a ton of popcorn. Our picks are: The Iron Giant, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Kidulthood, Shallow Hal, The Full Monty, Ray, Adulthood and Tadpole.
